Musical Abstractions

This creative assignment challenged the students in Color & Design to transform a song of their choice into a mixed-media artwork. The students carefully selected media to represent the mood, lyrics, and meaning of the songs they chose. They also focused on composition, color, and process as important elements for symbolizing the music. What I enjoyed most about the project was watching the students experiment with new media as they searched for creative solutions. I love that the variety of work they produced showcases their unique tastes in art and music. The following artworks were chosen by the students to be displayed in the showcase outside of the auditorium. (artwork titles link to the song)
