watercolor resist portraits

For this assignment, students were challenged to create self-portraits using a watercolor resist technique. To begin, they created high contrast photographs by editing their pictures in Photoshop. Then they focused on drawing the contour lines of their faces to create areas of positive and negative space. Next, they used masking fluid to preserve the areas of the paper that they wanted to remain white. The last step was to apply the watercolors and remove the masking fluid.
